Place Forecast Concept
A statistical area 1 (SA1) is the smallest ABS standard area for which the ABS publishes data by age and sex. Most SA1s have between 200 and 800 people. They are small enough for fine detail but large enough to keep data safe.
Place Forecast uses SA1-level data as the base for its projections. Each SA1 is made up of mesh blocks and sits inside a statistical area 2. SA1 codes link each mesh block to its parent SA1.
