Abbreviated as SA1
A statistical area 1 (SA1) is the smallest ABS standard area for which the ABS publishes data by age and sex. Most SA1s have between 200 and 800 people.
Place Forecast uses SA1-level data as the base for its projections. Each SA1 is made up of mesh blocks and sits inside a statistical area 2. SA1 codes link each mesh block to its parent SA1.
