Projection Explained Demographic Concept

A projection is a figure for a time that has not yet come. In Place Forecast, projected figures appear to the right of the jump-off year on charts. They are shaped by how births, deaths, and migration are set to change. A projection is not a prediction. It shows what would happen if those settings hold. Place Forecast lets users adjust dwelling assumption adjustments, housing assumption adjustments, and small area definitions to shape the projected result.

Figures to the left of the jump-off year are estimates, not projections.
