Marker methodology explained Place Forecast Concept

Referenced by

Marker methodology is how Place Forecast builds the small-area figures on each marker page. They are estimates, made in three steps. First, Census figures are tessellated to mesh blocks and then added back up to the small areas shown in Place Forecast. Second, the small-area results are proportionally scaled to the published LGA totals. This is called LGA anchoring. Third, the ABS adjusts small counts to protect privacy before Place Forecast receives the data. This is called perturbation. So read small-area figures as patterns, not exact counts. The linked pages explain each step and its limits.
