Marker methodology explained Place Forecast Concept

Referenced by

Marker methodology is how Place Forecast builds the small-area figures on each marker page. They are estimates, made in three steps. First, Place Forecast splits each ABS figure down to mesh blocks and sums them back to the area you see. This is downscaling. Second, each group's total is fixed to the ABS figure at the LGA level. This is LGA anchoring. Third, the ABS shifts small counts up or down for privacy before Place Forecast sees them. This is perturbation. So read small-area figures as patterns, not exact counts. The linked pages explain each step and its limits.
