In-migration rate shows how common moves into an area are at each age. This page gives in-migration rates by age and sex. Each rate is the number of in-migrants per person at that age in a given year.
Place Forecast calculates these rates from migration estimates and population data published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. They are worked out by dividing the number of people who moved in at each age by the population at risk.
The total row divides total in-migrants by total population at risk, giving a single weighted rate for the year.
