Dwelling Occupancy Rate shows the share of private dwellings that are occupied or not. Each rate is the count in that group divided by the total number of private dwellings.

A higher rate means more of the housing stock is in use. This rate is used to estimate the number of occupied and unoccupied dwellings. This feeds into average household size, linking dwellings and population. A council assumption with its own occupancy rate changes the area's rate from the year the assumption starts.
