Demographic Concept
Dwelling Occupancy shows the split between occupied and unoccupied private dwellings. This page only covers private dwellings.
The figures come from Census data collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
From the jump-off year on, Dwelling Occupancy Rates are carried forward. These rates split private dwellings into occupied and unoccupied each year. A council assumption can supply its own occupancy rate. It shifts the area's rate from the year the assumption starts. New dwellings built in later years then split into occupied and unoccupied at the new rate.
