Building completions shows how many approved dwellings have been completed. The data is shown by fiscal year and split by type: detached and medium or high density.
All figures are worked out from building approvals using completion times and completion rates. The underlying data is monthly. Place Forecast holds the last 12 months of data steady into the future and shows the totals by fiscal year.
For each year, building completions are added to the census dwellings to get the total number of dwellings. More new builds mean more dwellings, which can drive population growth through dwelling-based target scaling.
